Good Company

Good quality holster which fits my Sig 226 X5 perfectly, always one of the first companies to offer holsters for new handguns, good communication, and fast shipping.

Issues with holster binding the gun on draw

I used this holster for competition yesterday and found that when trying to draw, the holster was binding the gun. I tried loosening the tension screws until they eventually fell out, but that did not help. During the match, I ended up having to use my index finger to hold the holster down during the draw.

When I got home and had a chance to investigate it, it appears to be related to operator error. It is a combination of my larger body size and not being careful to take my elbow straight back on the draw. The result is the vector angle of the draw is somewhat angled out away from my body rather than straight up. The issue can be reproduced on the desktop. When drawing straight out, the holster does not bind the gun. When angling the draw even slightly outward, the gun will bind.

This issue makes this holster less than desirable as competition equipment. I have lots of experience with holsters from another manufacturer that do not present this issue, but they do not currently provide an option for the Canik Rival-S. Holsters for that model gun are hard to find, so I'm not sure what I will do at this point (other than work more on my draw angle and try to lose weight).

High quality competition holster

I am happy to see that you are making holsters for IDPA for a large number of makes and models. This was my first Black Scorpion holster. It won’t be my last!
